What sizes are available for the outdoor cabinets?
We offer two main cabinet series:
- Vertical Series: Available in a tall 5 × 7 ft model, as well as capacities of 700L, 900L, 1000L, and 1400L.
- Flat Series: Designed with a wider, lower-profile structure and available in capacities of up to 2300L. These cabinets are suitable for larger storage needs, including commercial rubbish bins.
What is the difference between the 900L, 1200L, 1800L, and 2300L cabinets?
The main differences are their storage capacity, dimensions, and recommended uses:
- 900L and 1200L: Compact options suitable for small garden tools, gloves, cleaning supplies, and other small items that are easy to misplace.
- 1800L: Provides additional room for larger items, such as a child’s bicycle and medium-sized outdoor equipment.
- 2300L: Our largest low-profile option. It can accommodate adult bicycles, sports equipment, wheeled rubbish bins, and even a small lawn mower.
These models can be accessed through both the front doors and the top-opening lid, making stored items easy to reach from different angles.
What is the difference between a tall cabinet and a low cabinet?
The best choice depends on the type of items you plan to store.
A tall cabinet is generally better for long or upright items, such as rakes, shovels, brooms, and other garden tools. A low cabinet provides more horizontal storage space and is better suited to bicycles, wheeled rubbish bins, lawn equipment, and bulky outdoor items.
Terkkin outdoor cabinets are designed for versatile use, so you can select a model based on the shape, size, and quantity of the items you need to store.
Which cabinet size is suitable for my storage needs?
The right cabinet size depends on the dimensions and quantity of the items you plan to store.
You can compare the available models on our outdoor cabinet collection pages. Each product page includes detailed specifications covering the cabinet’s capacity, external dimensions, internal dimensions, structure, door configuration, and recommended uses.
Before choosing a cabinet, we recommend measuring your largest items and comparing those measurements with the cabinet’s internal dimensions and clear door opening.
Where can I find the external and internal dimensions of each cabinet?
The external and internal dimensions are listed in the specifications section of each product page within our outdoor cabinet collections.
These specifications include details about the cabinet’s overall dimensions, usable interior space, door opening, height, width, depth, and internal structure.
How much usable storage space is available inside the cabinet?
The usable interior storage space normally reaches approximately 96% of the cabinet’s stated capacity.
Actual usable space may vary slightly depending on the cabinet’s internal structure, door frame, lid mechanism, and the shape of the items being stored.
What items can be stored in an outdoor cabinet?
Terkkin outdoor cabinets can be used to store a wide range of household and outdoor items, including:
- Garden and yard tools
- Outdoor cleaning supplies
- Rubbish and recycling bins
- Bicycles and children’s riding equipment
- Sports accessories
- Small lawn and garden equipment
- Household overflow items
- Small tools, hardware, and maintenance supplies
- Outdoor cushions and seasonal accessories
Always check the cabinet’s internal dimensions and load limits before storing particularly large or heavy items.
How do the three doors open?
The two front doors can be opened together by hand to provide wide access to the cabinet interior.
On models with a top-opening lid, lightly press or kick the release pedal located near the bottom of the cabinet. The hydraulic-assisted mechanism will then raise the lid smoothly and support it in the open position.
The front doors and top lid can be operated independently.
Can the three cabinet doors be opened separately?
Yes. The top lid and each of the two front doors can be opened separately.
You can open only the section needed to access your stored items, or open all three doors for maximum access. Hydraulic assistance for the top lid may vary by model.
What is the clear opening width when all three doors are open?
The clear opening dimensions vary by model. The following specifications use the 2300L cabinet as an example:
| Specification | 2300L Cabinet |
|---|---|
| Capacity | 2300L |
| Estimated Weight | 52 kg |

Does the cabinet have a top-opening lid?
Not every model has a top-opening lid.
Our low-profile rubbish-bin-style cabinets and selected models in the Vertical Series feature an automatic or hydraulic-assisted top-opening lid. This design reduces the effort required to open the cabinet and provides convenient access from above.
Please check the specifications on the relevant product page to confirm whether a particular model includes this feature.
How does the hydraulic-assisted top lid work?
To open the top lid, lightly press or kick the release pedal located near the bottom of the cabinet.
The hydraulic-assisted mechanism raises the lid smoothly and supports it at a controlled speed. This makes the lid easier to operate and helps prevent it from opening or closing suddenly.
Can the top lid stay open without being held by hand?
Yes. On models equipped with hydraulic support, the lid can remain open without being held by hand.
The hydraulic mechanism supports the lid in the open position, allowing you to place items inside or remove them safely and conveniently.
Is there a maximum weight that can be placed on the top lid?
The top lid can support a distributed load of up to 80 kg per square metre, which is approximately 176 lb per square metre.
The load should be spread evenly across the lid. Avoid placing concentrated loads, sharp objects, or excessively heavy items on a small area of the surface.
Can the cabinet doors and top lid be opened at the same time?
Yes. The two front doors and the top lid operate independently, so they can be opened at the same time when required.
Opening all three access points provides maximum visibility and makes it easier to place large items inside or retrieve items from different areas of the cabinet.
